Equal Treatment Act

The Austrian Federal Equal Treatment Act (B-GBG) provides the legal framework for equal treatment in Austria. The Act prohibits sex discrimination in the public service. Sections 3 through 9 define specific acts of discrimination. It sets forth punishment for violation of the Act, including the employer’s liability for damages. It also requires institutions dealing with the promotion of women and equal rights on every level.
