Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57)

As per Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57), independent contractors are considered self-employed persons for tax purposes in Hong Kong. As their profit comes from the provision of services or sale of goods, technically speaking, they are subject to profits tax. The profits tax rate depends on whether the business is incorporated or unincorporated.
