The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961

The Act states that every woman shall be entitled to a maternity benefit of 12 weeks. The Act endeavours to increase the same to 26 weeks. Furthermore, as per the prior provisions, a woman could not avail of the said benefit before 6 weeks from the date of expected delivery.
