Law Against Discrimination on PLHIV (Brazil)

Law No. 12,984/2014 (Discrimination Against PLHIV)

Law No. 12,984/2014 defines, as a crime, the following discriminatory conducts against a person with HIV and AIDS, based on his or her condition:

  • denying employment or work;
  • removing or dismissing him or her from work and employment;
  • segregating him or her in the workplace; and
  • disclosing his or her condition to offend his or her dignity.
